"På Djupet med" presenterar Anna Hammarström | AIK Fotboll

Kanske det mest positiva laget i hela AIK. Så vem är denna person som dag in och dag ut alltid står vid deras sida och stöttar dom genom allt? Hon har varit med sedan 2013. Är en eldsjäl som brinner för gemenskap och en plats där du blir accepterad för den du är.

På djupet har fått äran att träffa Anna Hammarström där hon berättar om både sig själv, AIK United och de utmaningar som det innebär att vara ledare för ett lag med funktionsvariationer.

Välkommen till “På djupet” Anna.

Kan du berätta lite mer om vem du är och din roll inom AIK United?
– Jag är både mamma och lagledare för spelare inom AIK United och har funnits med sedan 2013. Min son Felix spelar i AIK United och jag är med på alla träningar, matcher, turneringar med mera. Alla våra spelare har funktionsvariationer och det kräver ibland lite extra resurser eller uppmärksamhet. Min roll som lagledare blir att tillsammans med tränarna skapa en dynamik i laget där alla finns för varandra. Men vi är inte ett lag – vi är en stor familj.

Vilka är AIK United?
– AIK United är ett lag där alla får spela på sin nivå. Från början var det endast för personer med funktionsvariationer men vi är ett av de få lagen i vår serie som har både spelare med handikapp och funktionsvariationer. Ligger man under LSS eller går i särskola är man välkommen att spela tillsammans med oss i AIK United.
Vårt lag med 34 fantastiska spelare består både av tjejer och killar i åldrarna 7-46 år.

Vad är det bästa med att komma till träningarna, vad ger dig glädje när du är där?
– Att får vara tillsammans med tjejerna och killarna. Man kan komma från en lång och jobbig arbetsdag men när man lämnar planen efter träningen går man därifrån med lycka i hjärtat. Vi är raka och ärliga med varandra och det är högt och lågt men alltid med respekt. För ett par år sedan gjordes det en dokumentär med SVT där de följde en del av vår resa. Om ni inte har sett den så kan jag förklara hela vår verksamhet med ett citat från en av våra spelare.
“Om det inte vore för AIK United så skulle jag nog inte finnas här idag”.
Den meningen sätter sig djupt och man förstår att laget är bland det viktigaste de har. Det är en frizon och en plats för varje individ i laget att få vara sig själv, där ingen skrattar åt dem, pekar eller gör sig rolig på deras bekostnad. Det kanske låter som en självklarhet för många, men det är vardag för många av spelarna i vårt lag. Alla spelare i laget är otroligt snälla och visar stor respekt både mot varandra och tränarna.

Hur är känslan hos föräldrar till spelare i AIK United?
– Den är blandad. Jag tror att många föräldrar inte kan känna en tillhörighet till laget, eftersom samhället fortfarande bemöter personer med handikapp och funktionsvariationer som något fel och annorlunda. Man vågar helt enkelt inte ta plats. Ett exempel är att vi fortfarande saknar en föräldraförening.

Vad önskar du att både AIK och andra lag kunde göra för att få flera att bli involverade i AIK United?
– Synliggöra laget. Jag vill inte att det ska bli cirkus när vi är med eller att vi blir skrattade åt istället för med. Vardagliga aktiviteter som att få gå in med lagen på matchdagar, vara med på turneringar och delaktiga i andra aktiviteter inom AIK.
Om du står vid sidan av planen kan man på långt håll se stoltheten och äran som våra spelare känner när de spelar för AIK.
Förra året fick vi förfrågan om att gå in med damerna under deras hemmamatch. Då är det fullt allvar. Spelarna är otroligt fokuserade och ibland får man inte ens kontakt för att de laddar inför matchen och inmarschen. Efter det första tillfället har våra spelare gått på varje hemmamatch för damlaget.

Ni har fått nya tränare till laget, hur känns det?
– Vi har träning en gång i veckan och har precis fått fantastiskt tillskott med 5-6 nya ledare som kompletterar de vi redan haft sen tidigare. En ledarstab som finns på plats och kan hjälpa oss med de resurser som behövs.
Spelarna känner sig utvalda och glädje att deras lag tas på allvar och att fler vill vara involverade. Det kommer såklart ta några veckor innan vi hittat varandra och våra roller satt sig på ett bra sätt. Men AIK har verkligen gett oss chansen med de ledarresurser vi behöver.

Hur tror du att ni skulle kunna bli ett mer etablerat lag bland de övriga lagen inom AIK?
– Jag tror att man måste synliggöra olikheter och bemöta okunskapen. Tyvärr har vi mycket kvar att arbeta med när det kommer till att acceptera att alla människor är olika. Våra spelare är fantastiska men på ett annat sätt. Det gör oss inte annorlunda eller sämre, det gör oss unika.
Det som gör mig ledsen är att många vuxna idag inte tar sitt ansvar att lära barn och spelare att respektera olikheter. Jag blir både ledsen och frustrerad när vi blir skrattade åt eller inte tas på allvar. Våra spelare känner precis lika mycket passion och glädje för fotbollen som alla andra inom fotbollsvärlden. Varför ska vi inte kunna få den respekten? Allt jag ber om är att vi bemöts likadant som alla andra.

Ni har stor uppbackning av olika supporterklubbar inom AIK, berätta mer om det.
– 2018 blev det ett misstag med planerna i vårt seriespel. Då ordnade kommunen och Roger på AIK så att vi fick spela på Skytteholm. På läktaren satt olika supporterklubbar och stöttade fram vårt lag. Efter matchen kom en ung man i tjugoårsåldern fram till mig och bad om ursäkt för att han inte visste vilka vi var.
Jag blev otroligt rörd av supporterklubbarna och deras välvilja att finnas där för vårt lag.
När vi tog SM-guld och vi fick gå in på Friends arena gick våra spelare fram till klacken som gratulerade och gjorde high five med alla våra spelare. Många av supporterklubbarna är involverade i vår verksamhet, de bryr sig genuint och stöttar oss i olika sammanhang. Det är exakt det här vi behöver göra för att interagera med varandra.

Jag har även hört att supporterklubben har samlat in pengar till AIK United, men att även många andra AIK:are hjälper er?
– Det började efter min intervju i Radio Råsunda, där gick jag ut med att många av våra spelare saknade ordentlig uppsättning av kläder och skor eftersom många av våra spelare lever på minimum bidrag. Magnus Hultman kontaktade mig och berättade att han höll på med en insamling där de ville hjälpa oss. Genomslaget och responsen var enorm, vi tog emot en större summa pengar som var välbehövt för vår lagkassa.
När vi tog SM-guld gjorde han samma sak igen. Vi kände då att våra spelare förtjänade en hyllning efter sina prestationer.
En del av pengarna gick till att för första gången få ta med våra spelare ut på restaurang och äta middag. Vi köpte guldhattar, tröjor och vi fick fira tillsammans.
Många har aldrig varit ute och ätit på restaurang tidigare så den här kvällen var stort för laget.
Vi har många genuina och fina personer som donerar anonymt av välvilja, inte för att synas eller höras utan för att de verkligen bryr sig om oss och vår verksamhet.
Blanda annat hjälpte Johan Segui oss att få fram skor till varje spelare i laget, vilket vi uppskattade otroligt mycket eftersom vissa av spelarna inte har råd med fotbollsartiklar.
Jag vill poängtera att det inte bara handlar om fotbollen utan de små sakerna runt omkring som att tillsammans få gå och äta på restaurang som gör mina spelare lyckliga. Varenda krona som kommer in till oss märks till diverse aktiviteter. Allt för att våra spelare ska få samma möjlighet att känna glädje med sitt lag som alla andra.
Vi hoppas och tror att vi kommer ta hand om ett seriespel nu i vår och då vi hoppas på fortsatt stöd från våra supportrar. Det är inte helt spikat ännu men det lutar åt den 23 maj.

Av fyrtio lag i er serie vann AIK United SM-guld i höstas. Kan du beskriva känslan?
– Det går inte att förklara i ord. Alla grät. Det var otroligt stort.
När vårt lag förstod att de vunnit och skulle ta emot guldmedaljerna visste spelarna att de kommer få gå in och ta emot hyllningarna på Norra stå. Det var lika stort som att vinna serien. Att få höra jublet från Norra stå betyder mer än vad jag kan beskriva i ord.
Det kom gratulationer från människor inom hela AIK. Från A-lagsspelare, tränare och supportrar till många fler. Det är nog bland det mäktigaste jag varit med om i hela mitt liv.

Hur känner du att du som person, mamma och lagledare har utvecklats från starten av AIK United?
– Jag har blivit en mycket bättre människa. Det är inte mycket som är viktigare än laget.
Vår son Felix fick cancer när han var två och ett halvt år och vi tillbringade fem år på sjukhuset. Flera gånger var han nära att förlora kampen och han har haft fler motgångar i livet än vad du och jag har haft tillsammans. Men trots sin tuffa start är han den mest positiva människa jag vet. Och det vill jag poängtera att alla våra spelare är.
Alla våra spelare är otroligt starka och drivna trots allt negativt som de får gå igenom. Dels med sina handikapp och funktionsvariationer men även samhällets hårda och stereotypa bild.

Och hur tror du spelarna känner?
– De kan allting om AIK. Det spelar ingen roll vilken sport det är, det är bara AIK som gäller.
Spelarna känner en enorm stolthet att få bära loggan med AIK och att få tillhöra klubben. Varje dag ser jag hur de utvecklas både som spelare men även som individer både i och utanför plan.

Om spelarna fick önska sig en sak, vad skulle det vara?
– Den ultimata drömmen är att få spela inne på Friends Arena.
Jag önskar att de kunde få uppleva känslan att för en stund få känna sig som professionella spelare.

Hur ser din egen dröm ut?
– Jag önskar att vi kunde ha möjligheten att tacka ja och åka till Österrike.
Att ta med både division fyra och sex och tillsammans åka och spela på Allianz-Stadion.
Vi var där för några år sen och det var otroligt mäktigt. En turnering med andra lag inom funktionsvariationer. Vi är inbjudna varje år men har tyvärr fått tacka nej då vi saknar resurser. Vi hoppas kunna få till det till nästa års turnering, speciellt nu när vi fått in fler ledare som kan hjälpa till att organisera resan.

Är det något som du skulle vilja säga till våra läsare?
– Hjälp oss att hjälpa andra. Hjälp oss att fortsätta göra det vi gör.
Det är otroligt viktigt för våra spelare och generellt för människor med funktionsvariationer att få komma ut. Glädjen av att känna gemenskap och vänskap.
Kan man inte bidra med pengar så kanske man kan hjälpa till på ett annat sätt.
Respektera oss för dem vi är. Säg hej när du ser oss gå till träningen eller en match, ge en high five eller bara ett leende och några positiva ord till våra spelare så har du kommit långt.
Det betyder otroligt mycket för spelarna inom AIK United att bli uppmärksammade och respekterade av andra lag inom klubben. För en sak är vi lika inom och delar tillsammans – kärleken till AIK.

In this interview we will go into details with Anna Hammarstöm and her work with AIK United.

In 2019 AIK United took home the gold. A team of players of mixed ages who have just been given more resources in the form of an extended leadership team. Let us introduce AIK United. Perhaps the most positive team in AIK. So who is this person who day in and day out always stands by their side and supports them through everything? She has been with the team since 2013 and is passionate about solidarity and a place where you are accepted for who you are.

We have the honor of meeting Anna Hammarström where she talks about both herself and AIK United and the challenges it entails to be the leader of a team with neural development disorder.

Can you tell us who Anna is and you role within AIK United?
– I am both a mother and team leader for players in AIK United, and I’ve been with the team since 2013. My son Felix plays in the team and I participate in every practise, game, tournament and more. All of our players have a different variation of NDD (neural development disorder*) which requires extra resources or attention. My role as a team leader is to create a dynamic feeling in the team, and make sure that everything works and that we have a balance. I always say “we are not a team – we are a big family“.

Who are AIK United?
– AIK United is a team where everyone can play at their own terms. Initially it was only for people with NDD*, but we are one of the few teams in our series that has both players with NDD* and disabilities. If you are under LSS or attend a special school, you are welcome to play with us at AIK United. Our team of 34 fantastic players consists of both girls and boys aged 7-46.

What is the best thing about coming to practise?
– Just being there with with these people. You can come from a long and hard day at work, but when you leave the practise you do it with happiness in your heart. We are straight and honest with each other. It goes up and down fast, but we are always respectful towards each other.
In 2018 we did a documentary with SVT where they followed part of our journey. If you haven’t seen this documentary, then I can summarize our work in one sentence from one of our players: “If it wasn’t for AIK United, I probably wouldn’t be here today”.
That sentence sits deep and you understand that the team is among the most important thing they have. It’s a place for them to just be who they are and allow themselves to enjoy the moment, and forget about all the obstacles in their lives. For you and me this is nothing out of the ordinary but for them this is their daily struggle. The players are incredibly kind and show great respect both to each other and to their coaches.

Can you describe the feeling among the parents in the team?
– Unfortunately a lot of parents still do not feel a connection to the team. I think this is because the way the society is. If you are different then you don’t fit the form, and people don’t know how to respond. An example is that we still don’t have a parent association.

What do you think AIK and other teams within the club could do and help to get more people involved in AIK United?
– Everyday activities involving our team. I don’t want our team to become the center of attention for people’s own goodwill, I want people to genuinely care and be interested in making a difference in the society, not only in AIK United and football but overall.
When our players were asked to walk in with the ladies in the A-team during their home game, you could just see how proud they were at that moment.

AIK United just received resources with a new coaching staff, can you tell us more about that?
– We have practise once a week and have just made a fantastic addition with 5-6 new coaches that complement the ones we had previously. A leadership team that is in place and can help us with the resources needed. The players are happy and feel that their team is taken seriously. It will take a few weeks before we find each other and put our roles in a good way, but AIK has really given us the chance with the leadership resources we need.

How do you think AIK United could be more involved among the others teams in the club?
– I think we need to talk about the ignorance and how we are still not accepting that people are different. We still have a long way to go but small steps forward. I hope we can get more accepted not just within the club but in society as well.
What hurts the most is when adults do not teach their children that it is okay to be different, and that we should respect each other for who we are.
My player feels exactly the same passion and joy with football as anyone else, so why shouldn’t they be allowed to enjoy the love for football?
Our players are amazing in a different way, that does not make us less worthy – it makes us unique. I just ask that everyone respects us and treat us as everyone else.

AIK United have many fans, but there are a few people and support clubs that went the extra mile to support the team. Tell us about that?
– In 2018 there was a mix up with the pitches. Roger from AIK and municipality (Solna kommun) helped us so we could play at Skytteholm. We had support clubs cheering us on to victory.
After the game one young man came up to me and apologized for not knowing who we were.
I was incredibly moved by the supporter clubs and their goodwill to be there for our team.
When we won SM-gold and got to enter Friends arena, our players went up to the supporters on “Norra Stå” and received high fives and congratulations from the fans. I can not describe in words what that meant our players. We have many people from different supporter clubs showing up to our games and being there for our team. This is exactly what we need to do to integrate with each other.

I’ve heard that some of the supporters clubs have raised money to AIK United, but also that many other people are involved?
– It started after my interview in Radio Råsunda. I talked about many of our players not having proper setup with clothes and shoes to be able to play football. This is because many of our players receive minimum financial aid. Magnus Hultman contacted me and said that he was doing a fundraiser and wanted to help us. The response was overwhelming. We received a large amount of money that was very much needed for our team.
Same thing happened when we won gold 2019. Part of the money went to celebrate the players for the contribution to the success with the team performance. We were for the first time able to take them to a restaurant and have dinner together. Many of them have never had dinner in a restaurant before. We bought gold hats, printed shirts with the gold title on and could just be us for a moment of celebrations. It was a great feeling to be able to do this for them.
I want to clarify that we have genuine and nice people donating anonymously to the team. But also big profiles in AIK showing up and being there for our players and the team. Every penny that comes to the team is marked for various activities. I can never thank these people enough for doing this for our players.
We hope and believe that we will be hosting a series game on the 23rd of may at Skytteholm. We also hope for the continued support from people in AIK.

Out of 40 teams in your series – AIK United took home the gold in 2019. Can you describe the feeling when you realised that you had won?
– I can’t explain my feelings in words. Everyone cried. This is beyond anything I had ever experienced before, one of the biggest moments in my life.
When our team understood that they won and would receive the gold medals, the players knew that they would go in and receive the tributes at Norra Stå. It was as big as winning the series.
Congratulations came from people throughout AIK. From A-players, coaches and supporters to many more.

How do you feel that as a personer, mother and team leader you have developed from the start of AIK United?
– I have become a better person. Nothing else matters.
Our son Felix got cancer when he was two and a half years old and we spent five years in the hospital. Several times he was close to losing the fight against cancer, and he has had more setbacks in life than you and I have had together. Despite his tough start in life, he is the most positive person I know. And I want to point out that all our players are the same.
They are incredibly strong and driven despite everything negative that they may go through, partly with their disabilities and NDD but also society’s harsh and stereotypical image.

How do you thing the players feel?
– They know everything about AIK. It doesn’t matter what sport it is, it has to be AIK.
They feel a huge pride in being able to carry the logo with AIK and to belong to the club. Every day I see how they develop both as players and as individuals on and off the pitch.

If the players could wish for one thing, what would that be?
– The ultimate dream is to play at Friends Arena against the A-team.
I wish they could experience the feeling of being a professional player for a while and not having to feel left outside.

What does your own dream look like?
– I wish we could have the opportunity to say yes and go to Austria.
To bring both division, four and six and together go and play at Allianz-Stadion. We were there a few years ago and it was incredibly powerful. A tournament with other teams within NDD. We are invited every year, but unfortunately we have not been able to go again because of the lack of resources.
We hope to be able to make it to next year’s tournament, especially now that we have hired more leaders who can help organize the trip.

Is there anything you would like to say to our readers?
– Help us help others. Help us continue to do what we do.
It is incredibly important for our players and people in general with NDD to get out. To feel the joy of being part of a community and friendship.
If you can not contribute with money then maybe you can help in another way.
Respect us for who we are. Say hello when you see us go to practise or a game, give a high five or just a smile and a few positive words to our players and you have come a long way.
It means a lot to the players at AIK United to be recognized and respected by other teams within the club. Because one thing is sure, we share the same passion and love for the same team – AIK.
