Observera – jobbannonsen är skriven på engelska eftersom klubben behöver nå ut till potentiella kandidater både nationellt och internationellt.
About the role
This is a senior leadership and management role. You will lead staff, manage the departmental budget and establish an integrated, sustainable performance model. Strong clinical expertise is essential, with hands-on assessment and support provided when appropriate, particularly in complex cases, rather than as the principal day-to-day responsibility.
Working closely with the Head Coach, coaching staff and Head of Strategy, you will integrate medical and physical performance information into training planning, recovery, player development, injury management and return to play, while respecting the Head Coach’s responsibility for coaching methodology and periodisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the integrated Performance Services function, including direct line management across Medical, Physical Performance and Mental Performance.
Provide clinical leadership and oversight, supporting assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation within professional competence, with hands-on clinical support when appropriate.
Oversee physical preparation, sports science, nutrition, strength and conditioning, load management, mental performance, recovery and rehabilitation.
Work closely with the Head Coach to inform training planning, match preparation and decisions regarding player availability.
Build effective collaboration and shared accountability between medical, physical performance, mental performance and coaching staff.
Manage the departmental budget, resources, staffing, performance reviews and professional development.
Establish and maintain a documented, long-term Club performance philosophy, with consistent protocols for physical development, injury prevention, load management and return to play that endure beyond changes in individual personnel.
Ensure integrated player-management decisions are supported by appropriate monitoring, technology and secure information sharing.
Set measurable standards and KPIs for training and match availability, re-injury, physical development and service delivery; monitor performance and challenge failures to meet agreed standards.
Qualifications and Experience
A recognised clinical qualification permitting assessment, diagnosis and treatment within your professional scope of practice.
Extensive practical experience in diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal conditions and sports-related injuries.
A strong background in sports medicine or a related clinical discipline, with a comprehensive understanding of multidisciplinary physical performance.
Proven experience working in elite professional football at national and international levels.
Previous experience managing staff and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Proven ability to combine clinical credibility with strategic leadership, staff development and implementation of consistent operating standards.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with the Head Coach, coaching staff and senior management.
This is a senior football management appointment for an established clinical practitioner and leader who can unite the performance services function and take responsibility for its long-term development from day one.
